There are 8 rods on board with floating, intermediate and sink tip lines so you can fish several methods. Let me know if you want to bring your own rods and I can make room in the racks for them. Derek is one of the few guides born in Phonix Arizona that was raised on local lakes. He started fishing at a very young age. As a kid, he would get really curious about fishing techniques, fish patterns, and seasonality as well as where the best fishing spots are depending on target species. He has spent a lot of time trying to learn everything that an expert angler should know. He’d fish and try different baits, gears, and styles to improve his angling skills and to discover more about it. He then started fly fishing in the year 2013 and this is where it all started—he uncovered his love for Carp fishing. Since then, he has specialized and developed his expertise for this particular species which is known to be undoubtedly challenging to catch. According to Derek, he joined a local legend who got him into a Carp, and from that day forward, he has become 100% addicted to it.&nbsp; Prior to Carp, he has already established his expertise in Trout fishing but at some point, he says that it became a little bit exhausting for him due to the long driving hours spent. He is the type of guide who would scout fish daily to ensure that he and his guests would get as many shots as possible. He is honest to say that not every day is a perfect day of fishing but he does everything to make “a great catch” happen. He believes that the fish are smart and to increase success, anglers should be very efficient at casting 60’ fast, must maintain good line management, and must bear in mind that accuracy also plays a huge role. When you join him on a trip, you’d notice that he is a very encouraging guide who motivates everyone, especially the novices. He’d be sharing all his experiences about fishing in phoenix, he will give you relevant tips and tricks until you hook and land your once-in-a-lifetime fish. Deposit: A 20% deposit is required for all online bookings. This is non refundable, but can be applied to future booking.Balance is due in cash or credit card on the day of the trip.

I don't like to charge a deposit, but due to recent booking and canceling last minute events. I feel it appropriate so I don't block out dates and then not able to re book.

Guest Cancellation: &nbsp;In the event that you need to request a cancellation, you must do so 14 days before your charter date in order to receive a CREDIT for another date. If trip is cancelled less than 14 days, no credit will be issued.

Guide Cancellation: In the rare event that your guide must cancel due to inclement weather, equipment issues or health, you will have the option to reschedule for a future date or cancel and receive your deposit back in full. Weather: Hot weather is normal here. Trips cancelled due to hot weather is non refundable. Wind, is a somewhat rare event. Rain even rarer. I pay very close attention to weather and can read our local weather patterns. I will never put the safety of us over weather. we always play it safe.

These trips take place minutes away from downtown Phoenix. This is a great trip for someone with a few hours to spend and fishes year round. I’ve developed techniques that make these grass carp go crazy for the fly. Beginners have had luck with my techniques, but an accurate caster will increase your fish. This trip is for those looking to fly fish the Salt River near Phoenix! Less than 30 minutes away from Sky Harbor and Gateway airports lies a gem of Phoenix. This scenic and clear river is located just below the last dam on the Salt River lakes and give a truly unique fishery! Some special species that we target are Sonoran Suckers which are some of the best fighting fish in the Southwest. Very large common carp also inhabit these waters along with some very healthy 5-6+lbs large mouth bass. Our state game and fish agency also stock the river with rainbow trout seasonally.

This is one of our favorite trips. Using our poling skiff, we can get within feet of unsuspecting tailing(feeding) carp. This trip is full of adrenalin casts and fun eats. These fish will test all aspects of your game and make you a better angler. These trips are usually done at Bartlett lake, Lake Pleasant, or Roosevelt lake and our start times can be later in the day as we like the sun nice and high. This trip is best between late March and late December. We can fit 2 plus me on the boat but only one angler can cast at a time. This trip is done by guide Derek

These creeks are in very rugged country, all participants much fill out waiver and be in physical shape to complete at least 3 miles hikes.This trip is for moderate to advanced fly anglers. These remote access locations require hikes therefore there are no half day options.

Remote Wild Trout Fishing In Arizona

The Arizona Wild Trout Challenge highlights unique fisheries in Arizona that offer anglers the chance to pursue wild trout. This Challenge also highlights the opportunity to fish for native Apache trout and Gila trout in Arizona. Both species are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Anglers much also catch Brown, Brook and Rainbow trout from select waters. Our guides are dialed in these specific waters and can help you get your slam! We highly recommend 2 day trips for this challenge. The trip will take place over 2 national forest and will require lots of driving and hiking.

Arizona Wild Trout Challenge 

This trip is for those that aren’t able to do a trip but have questions about general fly fishing. We can setup a video phone call and address any concern you’re having. These concerns can range from casting, presentations, knots, gear, leaders/ tippet, rod and reel setups and any other questions you can think of. This is a time to talk with fly fishing professional in a one on one call to really bring you into the next level as a fly angler. We can do various languages though Google translate as well.

Summers are hot in Phoenix. Even at our local lakes temps can soar in summer. This trip is for those that want to fly fish for bass but don’t want the heat. These trips take place near Payson on the Mogollon Rim and east towards Show Low. Temps here can be 70 degrees less than Phoenix! These are boat trips, so you will have a nice view of the lake and surrounding wildlife.
